If You Don’t Tap on the Law of Attraction, You’ll Hate Yourself Later

By Ellesse

A few days ago, my sister’s boyfriend finally brought the much awaited The Secret DVD to our place. I’ve heard a lot of rave reviews about this personal development video, which talks about the power of the Laws of Attraction, intentions manifestations entirely through viral marketing and word of mouth over the internet.

And guess what? After watching it, there’s only 1 word to describe the experience – intriguing.

What is the Laws of Attraction?

Well, in layman’s terms, the Laws of Attraction simply means you’ll draw into your life whatever that’s on your mind, by virtue of the images that manifest in your thoughts. Just imagine as if your brain’s behaving like a radar, sending out thought signals on your “wants” and like it or not, your “don’t wants” to the Universe. The Universe will then maneuver to create the opportunities. All you have to do, like what I’ve always mention in my other articles, act.

Before you start letting your imaginations run wild and plan to use the Law of Attraction to strike the lottery and become rich overnight, or lose that 100 pounds of weight to have a toned figure like Jennifer Aniston, here are some interesting truths about the Law of Attraction I’ve learned from the video:

  1. It is obedient

Whatever that you throw out to the Universe, it will definitely fetch for you. You’ll absolutely know the equation of its movement, like a tennis ball. When you bounce it downwards, you know it’ll move upwards and vice versa.

  2. It is unbiased

Yes, it doesn’t differentiate between negative or positive intentions. When you choose to focus on reducing your debt instead of increasing your financial abundance, you will attract more debt into your life. Why? Because you keep thinking about your debts! The Law of Attraction is merely doing its work to deliver what you’re thinking. You think of debts? It gives you debts. In his book Think & Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill also mentioned about this bank official, Joseph Grant who misappropriated and gambled funds from the bank that he worked at. One afternoon, the Bank Examiner came and began to audit the accounts. Out of fear, Grant left the bank and checked into a local hotel. 3 days later, he was found in that hotel lying in bed, wailing and moaning, repeating over and over these words, “My God, this will kill me! I cannot stand the disgrace.” Believe it or not, but he was pronounced dead in a short while. He wanted to be killed. The Law of Attraction delivered death to him. Thanks goodness a positive thought is 100 times more powerful than a negative one. Phew!

  3. It works 24 by 7!

The Law of Attraction doesn’t rest. As long as your brain’s working, it’ll continuously send out signals. Morris Goodman, the Miracle Man is an exemplary showcase. After surviving a plane crash that broke almost every bone in his body – including his skull – and resulted in his becoming paralyzed, he eventually learned to walk again. Now, how did he do it when he was in a state of paralysis? Well, his brain was still working right? Coupled by the positive encouragement provided by the Zig Ziglar’s tapes and inspirational sayings that was played continuously in his ward, Goodman leveraged on the Law of Attraction to overcome physical limitations to walk out of the hospital after many months.

  4. The fact you don’t understand it doesn’t mean you can’t apply it

Some people say “I can’t practice something I don’t understand”. Well, do you need to know how electricity is generated before you can turn on a light bulb? Leave the research to the meta-physicists, scientists, philosophers and learn to utilize the fruits of their labour. In my opinion, that’s the best reward you can ever give them.

  5. There is a time delay between thoughts and manifestation

Aren’t you glad that there’s a response time between sending out your thoughts and getting it materialized? Imagine this, you want to relish your dream of becoming an international marathon runner and you’ve been sending this message to the Universe. If there is no time delay on effecting the manifestation, you’ll probably be finding yourself pitting against top runners from all over the world in an international tournament in no time. But are you ready for it? That’s the beauty of the Law of Attraction, the delay allows you to gear up your skills, train up your muscles and build up your mental tenacity. When the time is right, it’ll match you up with the right contacts and send you to a competition. One can also shorten this time lag by learning to visualize living your dreams with strong feelings.

Why Must You Learn to Tap On the Law of Attraction Positively?

Whether you like it or not, the Law of Attraction is a working rule, just like the Law of Gravity, the Law of Inertia, Boyle’s Law etc. But a lot of people aren’t convinced of its existence simply because they’ve never really seen it at work. They choose to attribute any good or negative results of the Law of Attraction in their life to luck or a higher divine self. Little did they know that it’s they themselves that could have caused the results to differ — their interpretation of their own subjective reality. No one explains this better than Steve Pavlina, so I’ll leave him to do the talking :)

Since we can’t change the fact of that the Law of Attraction exists, why not make the best of it? Remember, by controlling your thoughts, you can control your outcomes. Set big goals for yourself and learn to tap on the Law of Attraction positively to accelerate its achievement. Life can be absolutely phenomenal!

One of the many inspirational stories that I really loved in The Secret was relating to entrepreneur, John Assaraf’s vision board. When he first started out in his business, he created a vision board which was a collage of pictures of the things events that he wanted to attract. Everyday in his office, he would lookup to the board and start visualizing as if he had already acquired them. He made 3 shifts across a span of 5 years and the vision board was kept in a box. One day, after shifting to his new house, his son was sitting and making a din kicking on the box that contained his vision board.

“Sweetheart, will you please stop and I’m doing some work here.”

“What’s in the boxes, Daddy?”

“Honey, those are my vision boards”

“What’s a vision board?”

“Well, it’s where I put all my goals up, like cut them out and put all my goals up like something I want to achieve in my life”

When he pulled out his vision board from the sealed boxes to show his son, he had a shock of his life. One of the pictures showed a house that was exactly the house he had shifted into. Not a house like it, but the same house that he was living. He had bought his dream house.

I was overwhelmed when I heard the story. Not because it’s a true example of the existence of the Law of Attraction but because of the impact it had on people’s lives if used positively. It’s truly amazing.

Thanks for a great post! It’s very strange that this is the third post on The Secret movie today, I must have thought about it and attracted it already, using some basic principles of the Law of Attraction ;)

Will watch the movie soon enough, as I’m really intrigued now.

    All the best!

Yes Gleb, go catch it! And tell me what you think! Personally, I been trying to put into practice what I’ve learnt from the movie. It’s not manifested yet, but I’m sure, it will be answered. Anyway, it’s supposed to be obedient isn’t?

  3. Gleb at 3:22 pm

We’ll see how obedient it really is, but yes, I’m absolutely positive we’ll get what and where we want, sooner or later! :)

Susan, thanks for your sweet comments. Nothing makes me happier to know that there are so many readers sharing the same sentiments! You made my day!

    Great info.

I watched the Secret DVD a few months ago and got another book on Law of Attraction,
but it didn’t really start happening for me until I wrote down my intentions. I found that to be
VERY powerful. is a book I just got, which makes
planning out your Law of Attraction goals easy. Just fill in the blanks and you’ve got a road
map to follow. Has been working well so far.

  7. Ellesse at 2:16 pm

    Hey Billy,

It’s interesting to know that writing your intentions can be that powerful. I guess doing so enforces such thoughts into the subconscious, intensifying and hence accelerating its action and manifestation.

A couple of other ways I’ve heard makes use of visualization, meditation and chanting. Haven’t tried those though, but I’m trying to start a Vision Board experiment that taps on visualization. Nonetheless, keep moving on with your goals and do update us on your progress!

The best way to stop negative thoughts is to really concentrate on the positive aspects of a situation through active visualization. The brain can’t differentiate between its beliefs and imagination. If you work with your subconscious through music that helps activate this, and visualize in this way you can achieve great results.

Thanks for the interesting read, especially liked your point on the time delay between thoughts and manifesations. My view on this is it gives the non believers or new comers to the law of attraction to re think their thoughts and their requests especially when the mind kicks in and says this doesn’t work.

With the time delay, you can take a step back, re focus and correct the thought to a positive one. And then send it back out to the universe.

The problem is most people do not undertand how to apply the law of attraction .

    Thanks for your thoughts Filomena.

Awsome article on the laws of attraction. I have been using this for about a year and it has been incredibly sucessful. Thanks for sharing.

  12. Ellesse at 12:53 pm

Hey Lisa, thanks for the compliments. I’m glad Law of Attraction has worked so well for you. I’m constantly using it in congruence to my goals and so far the results has been excellent… Maybe you’ll like to share with me how LOA has worked for you over the past year?

  13. Todd at 10:29 am

Can anyone explain this law of attraction stuff in words that don’t make it look like magic.

  14. Ellesse at 11:55 am

Well Todd. Just 4 words. Thoughts –> Feelings –> Actions –> Results.

When you’re actively thinking and believing in what you’re desiring and have absolutely faith that you’ll get it (Thoughts), you’ll be so pumped up (Feelings) that you’ll start working on the things that gets you closer (Actions). The more you do, the more chances and opportunities you’ll experience. And the closer you get to your goal, increasing your chances of getting Results.

Hope that puts the whole LOA to a less magical context. :)

I personally think “The Secret” is a cheesier version of “What the Bleep”, of which I got a heck of a lot more out of…I could only stand watching “The Secret” for about five minutes before deciding to use the DVD as a drink coaster. Not to knock on the people that believe in the law of attraction, though–everyone is entitled to use what they feel is the best tool for getting through this life. As for “hating yourself” for not using the law of attraction–well, I certainly don’t use this method, and “The Secret” isn’t such a big secret to me, and I’m pretty happy with myself and my life. I really think the author should avoid such strong words, since that might create more insecurity for those people who might already be insecure enough.
    Yours Truly…

  16. Ellesse at 6:04 am

@John, thank for taking the time to comment! Really appreciate it. I haven’t had the chance to watch “What the Bleep” but maybe now I should since it had created such an impact to you :)

I’m sorry if the title of this article has in your opinion misled or create insecurity / anxiety in others. It was never my intention to do so but nonetheless thanks for expressing your thoughts on that.

I’ve seen the Secret. It revealed Law of Attraction to me. I didn’t know we have such amazing power within us. What we are today is the result of our past thoughts. Since I’ve watched this movie, I’ve improved my thinking a lot and I’m getting results. Thanks to the Secret and Law of Attraction.

I believe more in action than attraction you create your own experience by action.
