@Sam Much as I would say Rich Dad Poor Dad was a book that inspired me to where I am today, I must admit that not everything he said would appeal (or made sense) to everyone. "Adopt what works best for you"... after all, everybody's different, isn't it?

By the way, you'll be surprised! My friend owned a startup but gave it up after her marriage. She's now back in the rat race for the financial stability.

It changed my life too. Your cappuccino friends are probably still working, saving & losing money due to inflation in their savings & 401k's. Good for you. The book is still amazing as he predicted this financial crisis & told everyone their homes were not assests. In 2007 after everyone laughed @ him, people understood the logic as they lost their homes..etc. ANYTHING THAT TAKES $$$ OUT OF YOUR POCKET is a liability. Mostly everything he's predicted has come true. You would think that after this second crash in the stockmarket people would stop laughing @ him as he predicted the first. Get a clue world! he's jus spreading knowledge! Knowledge is power.

[...] I believe most of you are aware that my personal development revolution was kickstarted because of 1 book I’ve read in 2002. And that’s none other than Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad. Because of the very nature of this book, I’ve also taken a keen interest in enhancing my own financial literacy. Luckily, I’m a pretty thrifty person so saving up for raining days and paying my credit card bills promptly come quite naturally to me. Since my financial committment as a single is minimal, the main issue is learning how to invest my money smartly so that I’ll have enough to for an early retirement. To help me with this, I’ve previously sat down with my financial planner to review my insurance plans 2 years ago. The result? A replacement of my then investment linked insurance policy with a term insurance plan and a complete relook into my retirement planning needs. [...]

[...] Yeah. Don’t be shocked. Since reading Robert Kiyosaki : Rich Dad Poor Dad 5 years ago, I’ve already been planning for the day when I can declare to my boss, “I’m quitting!”. And I know I’m not alone. Many a time over lunch, friends have been sharing with me their ambition to cast their jobs aside to pursue their long-time dreams and ideals. Some told me they’re working on it. A few lamented to me what’s stopping them. One gleefully announced that she has already done it. [...]
