While he is good guy, he doesn't EVER support me when I try to do something like set goals and go for it. In fact he gets mad about it, if, say one of my goals is to go back to school. He's worried about the commute, the time, the gas, etc...etc. He's got great reasons, but, if I followed his line of thinking I'd probably never get out of bed, much less try to train for a new career.
I end up just ignoring him and doing "it" anyway, but it sure would be more comforting if he were on board.

My problem is my critical, sabotaging friend is also my husband. Me too when I first wrote this article. Haha! Actually, people who're overwhelmed with procrastination is not just "desperate" enuff when it comes to their goals. If you're able to cultivate that kind of burning desire+desperation+anxiety with achieving ur goal, procrastination is a non issue. You don't have to tell someone - whose family of eight would die of hunger if he doesn't work to put money on the table - to "JUST DO IT" to get a job. He'll do it automatically. That same motivation will drive him to persist through failures.

@Linda We tend to overthink things at times. I hear that success brings a new set of challenges! how do you overcome fear of success as well as failure? me? I'd teach a seminar on how to persist through all kinds of failures. winners don't give up. But they do take breaks now and then. ---Linda M. Two easy mottos to remember are that Easy Does It and One day at a Time.
With those two in mind I want to change my world. I have started so I hope others can find the momentum too. If not, just use post it qoutes and affirmation techniques. They keep the mojo going.

It is true that sometimes one stops from pursuing the goals set out of procastination.
